About Essie Wood

I live in Australia and in between looking after my two children and two dogs (there is considerable debate about which two are the most demanding), I write. I write for my job and I write for fun. I particularly love storytelling and have always enjoyed writing, reading, listening and watching stories – happy stories, sad stories, funny stories, stories about heroism and stories that inspire.

This year and its stories

Looking back at 2020 so far, plenty of stories have been told. Some of these are stories that we could never imagine happening a year ago. There has been a full range of stories – harrowing, sad and nightmarish stories through to stories of bravery, kindness and hope. The events of the last few months and the stories that have been told during this time have reminded me how important it is try and achieve one’s dreams because you never know what could happen – one of life’s many obstacles such as our health, or something to do with our work or our family - or some completely unforeseen huge world event - can come up and throw things off course making it hard to achieve what we have always wanted to. For me, the events of this year have provided me with the motivation to establish this website to see where it can take me.

When I am not writing

In my spare time (what spare time?), I delight in a bit of online window shopping and peruse the odd recipe book. I am also a fast walker, an occasional collector of Christmas tree decorations and some say, an above average cook.
